Welcome brighter looking skin with a bright smile!
Are you dissatisfied with your skin's texture? Do your favourite cosmetics and skincare products seem spotty on your skin because they don't mix or absorb well enough? Do you find that looking at your face makes you feel insecure because of dead skin cells or peach fuzz? All of these questions have a single clear answer: DERMAPLANING!
What is dermaplaning?
You've probably heard of Dermaplaning because of viral videos or because it's a regular technique in salons and derma clinics. Dermaplaning is a quick, simple technique that works similarly to shaving your face. It is a technique that involves gently scraping the outer layer of the skin, which is made up of dull dead skin cells, with a blade held at an angle. It exfoliates your skin and removes little, fine baby hairs (also known as vellus hairs) so that your face sparkles and feels softer.
Dermaplaning can be done as a stand-alone treatment or as part of a facial and takes around 10 to 20 minutes.
What are the benefits of dermaplaning ?
One of the most often mentioned advantages of this therapy is that it offers people a relaxed and refreshed appearance. The skin on the face seems smoother and more youthful. Here is the list of advantages that dermaplaning has.
1. Rejuvenated Skin
Dermaplaning has a completely rejuvenating effect on the skin as it removes dead skin cells and boosts the growth of new skin cells. Hyperpigmentation, or darkness on the skin is minimised, and the skin tone is evened out. The skin looks brighter and more even toned in general. It helps to enhance a person’s complexion and rough skin surface regions are smoothed out.
2. There Will Be No More Peach Fuzz
With skin-rejuvenating properties, dermaplaning helps to eliminate the peach fuzz that so many people suffer from. Even though small hairs are almost imperceptible, you'll be astonished at how fantastic your skin looks once they're gone. The skin looks more clearer and brighter.
3. Cosmetics Will Look Flawless
Once your face is free of peach fuzz and dead skin cells, your cosmetic products will apply much more smoothly. You'll save an enormous amount of time on your everyday makeup process, and you’ll end up with a flawless finished appearance once you're done. Have you ever experienced how the tiny, fine facial hairs rise up and out once makeup has been applied? After you've had this procedure, you won't have to be concerned about the emergence of those pesky hairs.
4. Cleaner, Smaller Pores
This treatment is a thorough facial cleansing that eliminates dirt, sebum, and dead skin cells from the pores. Your pores will seem smaller once they've been cleansed. Because pore size is closely proportional to age, this adds to a more youthful appearance..
5. Gentle and Relaxing
Although the prospect of having your face shaved may seem frightening, the experience is incredibly calming and delightful. There are no harsh chemicals used in this therapy, and the skin is not tugged, pulled, or scratched. These facials are non-invasive and suitable for people of all skin tones and skin types.
What are the side effects of Dermaplaning?
Dermaplaning is safe for most skin types in the hands of a professional, especially those with sun damage, fine wrinkles, dry patches, and dull skin. There are, however, certain exceptions like, if you have very reactive, sensitive skin (such as Rosacea or Keratosis pilaris), you should avoid dermaplaning since it may aggravate it. Sliding a sharp scalpel over your zits can aggravate them and increase existing outbreaks by spreading germs, which is bad news for anybody with inflammatory acne.
Is Dermaplaning at home safe?
It’s definitely possible to dermaplane in the comfort of your home. You may buy the dermaplaning equipment and do the treatment on your skin. However, dermaplaning at home may or may not provide the results that you’re looking for, and there are certain risks involved. It might lead to the risk of infection, complications and discomfort. It’s suggested that you schedule an appointment with an experienced dermatologist who can do the treatment properly. We also recommend to not exfoliate 2-3 days prior to the dermaplaning treatment as your skin will be more sensitive.
What is the process?
- Cleanse and dry your skin completely before you start the dermaplaning process.
- With one hand, put your blade at the jawline. With the opposite hand, tighten your skin. Gently glide the dermaplaning instrument downward.
- Continue on both sides until you've covered the whole cheek and jawline region.
- Repeat on the other side of the mouth, chin, nose, forehead, and neck. Don't go over an area you've previously covered.
-
When you're finished, apply an SPF and a moisturiser as your skin is quite sensitive after the treatment.

This procedure is not permanent because our skin naturally resurfaces once a month. During your appointment, your doctor will assist you in deciding on a specific treatment strategy based on your desired outcomes. Most people find that one session per month maintains their skin smooth and healthy, however treatments can be done more or less frequently. Your physician can help you assess your skin and determine the optimal exfoliation regimen for you in order to strike the right balance between preventing over-exfoliation and keeping your skin smooth.
